After beating St. Bonaventure in their last matchup, the Griffs traveled on the road to play the Robert Morris Colonials in hopes of continuing their win streak.
The Colonials started the scoring in the first period, but senior Riley Davis answered before the end of the quarter to tie the game at one. Freshman Maddie Fitzgerald scored early in the second quarter to give Canisius the lead. Robert Morris scored to tie the game, but senior Caroline Netti reclaimed the lead before halftime.
Sophomore Meg Hiltz started the scoring in the second half to give Canisius a two goal lead. Robert Morris scored to cut the lead to one, but senior Maddie Mazur and junior Hailey Rooney gave Canisius a three goal lead going into the fourth quarter. Davis and sophomore Maggie Tifft both scored to extend the lead to five goals and help ice the victory early into the fourth quarter. Robert Morris went on to score four straight goals, but they were unable to finish the comeback, with the Golden Griffins earning the 8-7 win.
The Griffs had seven different goal scorers in the contest, while sophomore Jody Chu had two saves and four ground balls.
Canisius will be back at home for their first MAAC game of the season on Friday, March 22nd at 4 p.m.
