On Thursday April 21 at 4 p.m., Latin American Students and Friends (LASAF) will be partnering with Residence Hall Association and the African American, Latinx American, Asian American and Native American Center to hold LASAF’s first-ever talent show in the Montante Cultural Center.
Auditions for the talent show will be held this Friday at 3:30 p.m., Monday April 11 at 6 p.m. and Tuesday April 12 at 3 p.m. in the LASAF club room located under the Student Center. Mercé De Jesús, the president of LASAF, said that the group will be welcoming to all who are looking to audition for the talent show. She also says she is looking forward to having the opportunity to include students together and show off their unique talents.
After the three opportunities of auditions, the talent show will have 10 finalists who compete for the chance to be crowned champion on April 21.
De Jesús said that the talent show will provide an opportunity for Canisius students and staff to display their creative or unique abilities. Students can showcase their skills to everyone at Canisius, including staff and students alike.
When asked how the talent show serves to further LASAF’s goals of inclusion and education, De Jesús said, “The talent show pushes the notion of inclusion, diversity and celebrating all our differences that we Griffs have.”
De Jesús believes that the talent show is important for Canisius because it allows students to have the opportunity to display their talents, come together as a community and celebrate diversity across campus in a unique way.
