The Intricate Snowman

I’ve never built a snowman before.

Somehow that’s applicable to my life.

I thought about the freezing chills I would have to face and potential frostbites

That would all equate to a creature who would eventually

Just dissipate.

Or succumb to the inevitable destroyers of the world.

It’s not worth the hurt and pain,

To spend so much time building something that time will just unbuild,

Except I did.

I spent time meticulously crafting something that I’ve always wanted but never needed.

There were people who walked by

Some oddly concerned,

Others who could care less

And those that joined for a while but then eventually left.

It happened all so fast and while time was standing still.

In a blink I had finished,

I left the cold bitterness when I first started and became melded into falling snow

Snow that could be molded and shaped and beat on and destroyed,

Snow that would keep falling-

Even if falling is the one thing we all despise.

I’ve never built a snowman before.

But now that I have,

I’ve learned that while nothing is forever,

Building a snowman is another way to see a life last.
