The Griffs Stay On Top After Big Win Against Niagara

The Canisius Women’s Soccer team defeated Niagara 5–1 on Wednesday, Oct. 29, securing the ability to host a MAAC Championship game against sixth seed Merrimack. 


Goals from Mia Iacona, Mary Molloy, Erin Weir, and two goals from Emma Oliphant ensured that this Battle of the Bridge matchup was no contest. Madeline Weltin tallied two assists in the game, notching her statistics up to 21 points this season. 


Weltin currently leads the team in goals with eight, but Emma Oliphant and Alicia Zamora are right behind with seven goals each. Out of Zamora’s seven goals this season, five of them were penalty kicks. 


The Griffs are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. at Demske Sports Complex vs. Merrimack.
