The Canisius men’s and women’s swimming team came up short against Marist on the road on Friday afternoon. The men’s team suffered a defeat of 183–106, while the women’s team was set back by a 189.5–108.5 defeat.

On the men’s side, senior Liam O’Connell led the way, notching a time of 9:52.17 in the 1000 free, while freshman Archie Minto and Nick Kishbaugh posted first place in the 200 fly and 500 free respectively. The collection of O’Connell, Bronson Benes, Ben Yant and Alexander Hiltbrand all came away with a first-place finish in the men’s 400 freestyle.

The women’s team was led by an outstanding performance from graduate student Sage Pollack. Pollack placed first in three of her four events for the day, leading in both the 50 and 100 free events and placing second in the 200 medley relay. Pollack finished first in the 400 freestyle relay along with freshman Ashley Allaire, sophomore Jordan O’Connor and junior Grace Van Buren.

O’Connor and Allison Testone rounded out the first place podium for the women’s team, finishing at the top in the 100 back and 200 breast, respectively.

Next up, Canisius will participate in a tri-meet against the University of Rochester and their MAAC rival, Siena. The Oct. 23 meet will take place at noon at the Speegle-Wilbraham Center in Rochester, NY.
