Suburb Spotlight: Buffalo’s Golden Corner

By Hannah Iqbal, Assistant Features Editor

Do you keep finding yourself stuck waiting in a long line at Tim Horton’s every day? Fear not, Buffalo’s Golden Corner is here! The Golden Corner is a deliciously appetizing convenience store and eatery located at 1715 Jefferson Ave. With its convenient location right next to the Health Science building, students can easily find time in between or after classes to grab a bite. Their menu includes chicken fingers, wings, tacos, burgers and various hot and cold subs — and they take Griff Choice as payment!

Along with these mouthwatering lunch and dinner options, the Golden Corner offers a variety of breakfast sandwiches. For meat lovers, steak, egg and cheese and turkey, and egg and cheese sandwiches are great choices starting at only $2.99. For those who prefer a meatless breakfast sandwich, a simple egg and cheese sandwich is available at the low price of $1.99. But don’t get the wrong idea, Buffalo’s Golden Corner is not just an eatery: they also double as a convenience store! So if you are just looking for a bag of chips or a soda, this is the perfect place for that as well.

Buffalo’s Golden Corner is open all seven days of the week. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Since the Market in Old Main closes at 4 p.m., these late hours are particularly helpful if you have a night class and are looking for fresh food. If you’re in a rush, it definitely helps to call a little ahead at (716) 882-6339 and place your order over the phone. Depending on the dish, preparation of food usually takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes. When I visited Buffalo’s Golden Corner, I called ahead of time to preorder the three-piece chicken finger meal with fries, totaling $9.99. After 15 minutes, my food was ready for pickup. Covered in medium hot sauce alongside fries and bleu cheese, it was absolutely delicious!

Walking into Buffalo’s Golden Corner, customers are greeted with a friendly atmosphere. Students and faculty alike can visit this welcoming joint to try a variety of local eating options. Aside from the delicious food, this eatery is located very close to campus, which is an additional benefit. Having said this, the next time you are walking around campus and feeling hungry, make sure you check out Buffalo's Golden Corner.
