In Other News…

The State of the University address is set to occur on Oct. 9 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Regis Room. 


Jimmy Carter celebrated his 100th birthday on Tuesday, Oct. 1. He was the first president to become a centenarian.


This week, the sun launched two large solar flares towards Earth. One of the flares was the largest flare recorded since 2015. There is no immediate danger, but the northern lights may be visible this weekend on the northern horizon. So, keep your eye out! For a better chance at seeing the lights, there is no better place within driving distance than the shore of Lake Ontario.


Mayor Byron Brown resigned from his position as mayor to become Off-Track Betting (OTB)’s next CEO. His resignation will go into effect sometime this month and his salary will start at $295,000 a year.


Kamala Harris is leading the national poll by 4.2% according to 270towin


The Buffalo Bills will be playing against the Houston Texans on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. at NGR Stadium. 


The Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library is holding a scary story writing contest. The deadline to submit stories is Oct. 20. 


Canisius Little Theatre will be presenting William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, directed by Eileen Dugan. 


There will be a Moon Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 7 in Grupp hosted by the Asian Students Association and the Art Club. 


The Center for International Education will be holding a study abroad information session from 12 to 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 in the Student Center. 


USA will be hosting an open-mic poetry slam event on Oct. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. The poetry slam will be held on the first floor of the library.
