Canisius' novice eight placed fourth against the field of 17 at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia this past Saturday.
The squad finished with a 15:09.157 time, which was just over a minute behind the first-place finisher, Lehigh who finished the race in 13:51.763.
Macey Schneider led the group as the coxswain as Hannah Kenefick, Skylar Vles, Eliza Hanson, Gabrielle Guzinski, Cece Reiser, Maddie Nowicki, Brianna Shaw and Sami Trolli were the eight rowers for the shell.
In the first event of the day, the Griffs sent a pair of varsity four shells out for the Women's Championship Fours event.
The "A" boat consisted of Ava Horgan leading the charge at coxswain, with rowers Ally Matrassi, Isabella Bruno, Destiny Severn and Bridget Reilly. The A squad finished with a time of 14:46.676, good enough for 10th place. This marked the last race in her Golden Griffin career for Matrassi.
The "B" shell on the other hand, finished 17th out of the 40 participants who raced, ending with a time of 15:09.870. Lehigh again claimed first place in this event, crossing the finish line in 13:47.584. Canisius' last participant at the regatta came in the Women's Club Championship Eight event, where the Griffs finished in 37th place with a time of 15:41.399.
"I'm pleased with today's results,” head coach Kerri Brace told GoGriffs.com. “We came in with a goal of being top-10 in the Champ 4+ and we accomplished that. Additionally, the 2v4 worked very hard to close the gap from last weekend and they executed that plan very well."
