Fall in love autumn with East Aurora

By: Bella LoDico, Contributor

There is no better place to visit this time of year than East Aurora. Located only 30 minutes from campus, it is the perfect day trip to get into the spirit of fall. Pumpkins, lattes, long walks and that small town feel: East Aurora has it all!

Despite its small size, the town of East Aurora has more than enough activities to fill a whole day. All parks, shops and restaurants are located within walking distance of Main Street, but if you live life at a faster pace, the sidewalks are friendly for bikes, skateboards, and even roller skates.

The perfect day begins with breakfast at Taste Cafe located on Main Street, which is lined with stores that have a little bit of everything. You can't miss the fall window displays of Head Over Heels, where you can pick out a new fall outfit. If you are feeling an exceptional amount of hometown pride, Level Up Buffalo and Rustic Buffalo have anything and everything Buffalo. If you are embracing a BookTok fall, The Bookworm is a place for book lovers to add to that growing pile of books to be read, and Bella Casa has all the fall themed decor you need to add some seasonal spirit to your dorm.

The next stop claims to be the world’s largest 5 & 10 cent Variety Store, Vidler’s! The rooms seem to go on forever here – the challenge: to visit all eleven. Once you have gotten lost somewhere between the novelty soda section and the display of assorted Bob Ross-themed items, it's time to purchase your knick-knacks and head to lunch.

I’d recommend Elm Street Bakery for lunch and Left Coast Taco for dinner, but on game days, Bar-Bill is the place to be. The best way to end the day is stopping at Rosie’s for some ice cream, where they currently have seasonal fall flavors including pumpkin pie and pear.

For fans of fall foliage, Knox Farm State Park is the perfect place to enjoy fall nature. There are many different hiking, walking and even equestrian trails.

There are always events going on in town. This Saturday, Oct. 12, you can visit the East Aurora Farmer’s Market on Grey Street from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., and later that day you can go on a haunted pub crawl from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

So, if you are craving that fall feeling, East Aurora might just be the place for you!
