If you could meet anybody, dead or alive, today, who would you choose?
Jon: I’d say Babe Ruth, I think he’d be very funny. I think he’d have great stories.
Peter: Babe Ruth’s an alcoholic baseball player!
Jon: Exactly.
Peter: And he killed his wife!
Jon: He did not kill his wife. We can get up to some shenanigans.
Peter: Like killing his wife?
Sophie: You know, I always struggle when I’m asked that question. I never know what to say. I feel like I don't really idolize people. I have no idea.
Maddy: I’ve been thinking about it. Can you come back to me?
Maddy (again): Do they have to be real? There isn’t a … I mean Taylor Swift is like the obvious forefront. Could I just say my dad? He’s really cool. Give me two more seconds to think. Don’t look at me, because I have to think in my head. I think we’re gonna go with the Goo Goo Dolls. I know nothing about them; I just get really emotional when I hear that one song that they made for the Buffalo Sabres. But also Miley Cyrus.
Gabby: UMMMM, oh, I would probably wanna meet Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I think I just wanna be able to ask her questions about her life and what it was like to be her. I wish she could’ve lived forever.
Ava: I’d just wanna hang with Dolly Parton. She just seems like the queeniest queen to have ever queened. She is wise, not beyond her years, but beyond this realm.
Mikayla: This is such an important question; she’s writing everything down, so I can’t speak out loud. Don’t write that down. This is so much pressure. Probably JFK.
Liz: Freddie Mercury.
Ashley: I wanna say Harriet Tubman, but I feel like that’s a basic answer. I wanna meet Barack. I’d say Harriet Tubman because of the Underground Railroads and that’s all I have to say.
Sydney: I think Patti Smith. Not only who she is as a person, but every time she speaks it feels like a hug. I was listening to her Substack and she sounds like my mom.
Julian: Has anyone said President Stoute? I’ll say President Stoute.
Peter: Tom Brady. He’s my favorite athlete.
Courtney: Lin Manuel-Miranda. Mikayla and I are going to see Hamilton next week, it makes sense.
Maggie: Do I wanna go history or pop culture? That’s the question. George Washington. I did a whole history assignment on George Washington in 8th grade. I wanted to find out if he cut down the cherry tree, if he had wooden teeth.
