The track team took part in the SUNY Geneseo Early Season Invite last weekend.

On the women’s side of the meet, junior Jacqueline Appenheimer took home two top-10 finishes in the 1,500-meter, placing fourth, and the 800-meter, where she finished in seventh.

Senior Kayla Schmidt, another top-10 runner for the Griffs, ran the 1,500-meter, coming in seventh place, with senior Taylor Heschke placing 12th. Sophomore Brooke Pogorski placed sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Appenheimer explained how she has grown not only as a runner, but also as a person: “I feel like I’m less result-oriented, like I just want to go out and do my best and I’ll give it all I have and that’s really all I can do.”

For the men, freshman Nathaniel Fisher came in 10th place in the 5,000-meter, making him one of three top-15 runners from Canisius. Freshman Ryan Giglia and junior Brody Jones were the other two top-15 runners, where Giglia took 12th place and Jones took 14th. Freshman Adam Kozman finished in 12th place in the 1,500-meter.

The Griffs will be back this weekend at the Bucknell Bison Invitational in Lewisburg, PA.
