The Griffs traveled to Akron, Ohio to compete in the Al Campbell Invite, their first race of the new year.
Canisius freshman Nathaniel Fisher recorded a top-five finish in Akron, coming in fifth place in the 3000 meter race with a time of 8:49. Fisher explained that he is proud of the fact that he has never found an issue with motivation. His favorite thing to do is run, so he has never struggled with not wanting to do it.
On the men’s side, sophomore Joseph Capuzzo placed ninth place in the men’s 800m race. Graduate student Max Chew places sixth in the one mile, running it in only 4:27. Three other Griffs placed top 10 in the one mile, including freshmen Adam Kozman and Fenway Breckls and junior Kyle Urban.
For the women’s team, graduate student Stephanie Seyfang broke the school record’s 60-meter dash, reaching the finish line in eight seconds. Junior Jacqueline Appenheimer produced two top-10 finishes, placing ninth in the women’s 800m and fifth in the women’s one mile, with senior Kayla Schmidt right behind her in sixth.
