On this final edition of The Griffin I would like to speak on behalf of us all and thank you, our readers. Thank you for reading what we write. Thank you for letting us practice doing what we love. We appreciate you overlooking the comma splices and misspelled homophones that slip through the cracks. And, thank you for the emails and texts that celebrate (or critique) our work and just letting us know that we aren’t shouting into a void, but rather are connecting with our community and with you.

As this year closes out, we are forced to say goodbye to many talented editors. This includes: our assistant News and Creative editors, a fantastic Opinion editor, a two-time News Editor and a two-time Features editor, a three-year Sports Layout and Photography Director, and a two-year Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor team that have led us to great success, through many fires and across the country (twice). Perhaps the greatest loss that this paper will face is the withdrawal of friendship and camaraderie that is found in our editing office every Thursday night. While I know that friendships don’t end the moment we cross the stage, I do know that what we have created in that little, dark office was magic and something that I will be chasing for the rest of my life.

Thank you for letting me and my friends write to you for four years and to the guys in the office, thanks for letting me stick around. I love you all.

For the last time,

Madelynn Lockwood, Features Editor
